DIY Vitamin Gummy Bears

We've just returned from a trip and are feeling a bit under the weather (seriously - this kid in line at the airport sneezed and coughed RIGHT all over one of my boys...I should have known to oil up after!).

This is the perfect time to teach self-care and empowerment to the boys, so after a massage protocol from the Symphony of Cells, we decided to make these AMAZING vitamins!

This post contains affiliate links which allows me to make a very small commission for recommendations of my fav things at no cost to you as a consumer.

Being plant-based, it's super hard to find a recipe without gelatine and WITH essential oils. In fact, I couldn't find one at all.

What I did find was a recipe for vegan gummy bears that I ended up completely changing around and made it my own. Ready for it?!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice (the real kind or it won't work)

  • 1 tbsp agar agar powder (not flakes or it won't work...I know! It's a picky recipe!)

  • 1 tbsp coconut nectar (I chose this because of its low glycemic level, but pure maple syrup would work, too)

  • 2 servings of Vitamin C powder

  • 10 drops Wild Orange (we also used On Guard for one of the batches)

Tools Required

Directions

  • Whisk orange juice and agar agar powder in a small pot over medium heat.

  • Once simmering (about 5 minutes), turn down to medium/low and allow to simmer for another 5 minutes, whisking every minute.

  • Remove from heat and add syrup.

  • Allow to cool slightly for 1 minute.

  • Add 2 servings of vitamin C and mix.

  • Add 10 drops of Wild Orange and mix again until everything is combined.

  • Use a dropper to swiftly put the mixture into the molds.

  • Place the molds in the fridge for 5-10 minutes until firm.

  • Store in the fridge.

We tasted them right away and they are great! For those who prefer a sweeter gummy (for holidays like Halloween), add an extra tablespoon of syrup.

I also want to try adding the PB Assist Jr to this mixture or break open a bunch of the Microplex vitamins to add in there. You can try different oils, too. We did a few with On Guard and a few with Wild Orange, but there are so many others!

There are so many fun ways to add more vitamin-type things to these gummies, keeping our kiddies healthy!
